Poverty: A forgotten issue in child protection
Professor Alan Hayes will begin with an introduction to the social and economic context of child protection in Australia. This will be followed by a key note presentation from Professor Brid Featherstone, Head of the School of Social Work at Huddersfield University in Northern England. She will share her research findings on the experiences of families who encounter the child protection system with respect to the intersections with poverty and social and economic inequality. This will be followed by a presentation from parent leader, Felicity Kime and a panel representative of voices from the frontline including parents and people with a care experience.
